Who do you want?

Who do you want?

With the start of the Madden 19 season fast approaching I’ve been getting the owners opinions on which teams they would like to get, and which teams they want to avoid in the upcoming team draft in sunny Preston on the 18th August. Each owner had 3 votes for teams they wanted and 3 votes for teams they didn’t.

Wanted Teams

#1 – Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars came top of the pile with 11 votes. Following on from being 5 minutes away from playing in Super Bowl 52 the Jaguars roster has a much deserved ratings increase from Madden 18. With arguably the best defence in the league and with the two highest rated corners in the form of Jalen Ramsey 97ovr and A.J. Bouye 94ovr and a terrifying defensive line of Calais Campbell, Malik Jackson, Marcell Dareus and Yannick Ngakoue the Jags are going to be hard to beat but still have a big question with who is under center.

#2 – Cleveland Browns

The Browns came 2nd with 10 votes. With exciting rookies such as Mayfield, Chubb and Ward as well respected veterans Tyrod, Hyde, Gaines and Kendricks being added to the 0-16 Browns who already boast the likes of Garrett, Njoku, Peppers and Collins, they look staked this year. The Browns also have 9 picks in the 2019 Draft having acquired the Patriot’s 3rd round pick in a trade.

#3 – Los Angeles Rams

The Rams came 3rd with 6 votes. Finishing with a respectful 11-5 record and reaching the Wild Card round before being beaten by the Falcons. With star players such as Todd Gurley on one side of the ball and 99 Club member Aaron Donald on the other, the rams are in win now mode. The Rams were busy in the offseason adding veterans Suh, Talib, Peters and acquiring Brandin Cooks in a trade. However the new owner will need to keep an eye on the finances with a lot of players needing new contracts in the near future.

#4 – Chargers, #5 Tied – Eagles and Vikings

Unwanted Teams

#1 – New York Jets

The Jets topped the list of teams to avoid like the plague with 11 votes. Despite having promising rookie QB Sam Darnold there isn’t much to look forward to on the Jets roster. The new owner will have a big rebuilding job on their hands without a massive number of draft picks having used their 2nd round pick in the trade with the colts to move up to no. 3 and draft Darnold. Good luck lads, speak to Glyn for some tips on coping methods.

#2 – Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins came 2nd in the unwanted list with 9 votes. The Dolphins finished with a record of 6-10 last season and the Dolphin’s uninspiring roster rating reflect that.  With uncertainty at the quarterback position after Ryan Tannehill missed the whole of the 2017 with injury his 78ovr rating reflects that. The silver lining of the dolphins’ roster is the potential of this year’s rookie class which includes Minkah Fitzpatrick, Raekwon McMillan, Jerome Baker and Mike Gesicki.

#3 – New England Patriots

The Patriots came in 3rd with 7 votes. Despite reaching Super Bowl 52 the Patriots find themselves with an aging roster and the ticking time bomb of the goat TB12’s impeding retirement hanging over them. Despite having gems like the aforementioned Brady, Gronk and Gilmore gaps at certain positions are a cause for concern. However you do have pieces you can use in trades to improve the roster with a savvy owner and is the best of the bunch in the AFC East.

#4 – Bills, #5 Tied – Redskins and Seahawks

Owners were also asked if there’s any particular owners they would or wouldn’t like in their division. Most answers were along the lines of “I don’t mind who I get” and hoping a change of division opponents from Madden 18. A few mentioned they were hoping to avoid, as Chris Ritchie coined them, “The Big 3” of Rob, SC and CB. Here is a highlight of some of the responses:

Daly: “I don’t want anyone in my division.”

Epone: “CB, SC, Paul, etc. Want the best so I can get better.”

Glyn: “Don’t care. I’ll still lose in ever increasing retarded ways”

Jamaal: “I’m okay with playing against anyone so long as, they are timely with responses for fixtures and communicate issues as they arise (not last minute)”

Phil G: “I have no preference.  Possibly a tough division – here to compete, not have 6 free wins a season”

Extra Quiz – Of all 32 teams only one team didn’t get a vote to be wanted or not wanted, sound off in chat who you think it is.

Thanks for reading lads, good luck to everyone for the draw. Thank you again to commissioners for running the league and the time they put in.
