1 week down, 15 to go! Some teams have already moved into panic buying/selling (including the Chargers who have already acquired another 2017 1st round pick via the Giants), the realisation of how good or bad the rosters are has begun to dawn and yes, as predictable as the sun rising in the East (just ask Jared Goff) #believeinglyn was far too fantastical a dream to become reality!
We’ve another cracking slate of games in week 2, with some of the highlights pulled out below…..
NYJ vs BUF
SF vs CAR
So, who fell for the woe-be-me stories coming out of Santa Clara in pre-season? If you did, you be fooled. CB picked off exactly where he left ’16 with a romping victory over the Rams. Carlos Hyde was the second coming of Denard Robinson, Blaine Gabbart wasn’t Blaine Gabbert and to top it all of, Todd Gurley was knocked out the league for 8 weeks. NFC West be afraid, be very afraid! The Panthers also enter this week 1-0 and could have the roster to slow the red and gold down a little this week
DAL vs WAS
CIN vs PIT
The standout performance of week 1 came from the Bengals and Wayne, who took his beloved on a A.J. Green (320 yards!!!!!) shaped raid through the Jets D. The Bengals roll straight into a big division game with, on paper, one of the best offences in the game. Another statement will see Wayne take the mantle of early division favourite. Pittsburgh recorded 8 turnovers in week one and look to build on that by targeting the Red Rifle, a man known to perform so well under the most intense pressure……
NO vs NYG
MIA vs NE
KC vs HOU
TEN vs DET
BAL vs CLE
SEA vs LA
TB vs AZ
JAX vs SD
ATL vs OAK
IND vs DEN
GB vs MIN
PHI vs CHI
Game of the Week – two league powerhouses with challenging rosters and both holding a 1-0 record, we expect this to go right down to the wire! Added incentive lies with the Bears, who now own the Eagles 1st round draft pick via Oakland via Cleveland thanks to the McPhee trade this week. Whoever wins will be sending a signal of intent to their division and conference rivals.
The Winners of this week’s games will be:
Last week we went 9 for 16. Lets hope week 2 can be more productive!
P.s. – the absence of daddyleagues is already being felt hard, with many of the owners already in mourning about its passing. Here’s hoping EA provide another way for us to waste many an hour at work in the near future!
