Madden 18 Season 1 Mock Draft
Good evening everyone and welcome to the first mock draft of Madden 18. As ever, it will be 100% correct and any variation in actual choices are clearly wrong. All trading is now banned unless you are a horrible person.
Pick No. 1 – New York Jets
Trevor Mruczkowski, QB, Auburn
With the first pick of the 2018 draft the Jets will take Auburn QB standout Trevor Mruczkowski. Mruczkowski has a big arm and pinpoint accuracy, but what has so impressed scouts is that he isn’t limited to his exceptional passing – he can move extremely well in the pocket and has an unexpected turn of speed. No sleeper after a great combine, the only reason Trevor should slip from number 1 is if no one can pronounce his name.
Pick No. 2 – Cleveland Browns
J.T. Hodge, CB, Clemson
The Browns will try to build on their impressive season by selecting J.T. Hodge out of everyone’s favourite college, Clemson. 22 year old Hodge destroyed the combine and was easily the pick of the CB prospects, clocking a 4.42 time over 40.
Pick No. 3 – Philadelphia Eagles
Israel Schulters, WR, Notre Dame
The Eagles will be looking to boost their anaemic offence by adding dominant receiver Schulters. 6’4’’ with an incredible vertical jump, Schulters has caught a record 28 TD passes over the last season in the FBS.
Pick No. 4 – Pittsburgh Steelers
George Sowells, MLB, Texas A&M
The Steelers need to add some…toughness to the defensive side of the ball and will address this with George Sowells from Texas A&M. Sowells is incredibly agile and known for his ability to play the run to either side and drop blocks.
Pick No. 5 – Jacksonville Jaguars
Soma Dunn, LT, Texas A&M
The first lineman off the board will be Soma Dunn. Dunn is a great pass protector who has been part of the exceptional unit at Texas A&M this year. Blake Bortles has been under siege so far in his time with the Jags and Dunn will be the first step in rectifying that.
Pick No. 6 – Minnesota Vikings
Josh Kiernan, QB, Texas A&M
The Vikings had a good season but need to find the answer at QB to push deeper into the postseason. Kiernan has broken records this year in Texas. The 23 year old is a powerful pocket passer who can make all the throws required with impressive accuracy.
Pick No. 7 – Los Angeles Chargers
Harvey Harrington, LT, Texas A&M
The Chargers currently have a huge void on the offensive line and Harrington will slot perfectly in. The second member of the vaunted Texas A&M line off the board (and the fourth in a row from Texas A&M), Harrington excelled at the combine and is quick as well as strong.
Pick No. 8 – Cincinnati Bengals
Lawrence Gaydosh, RT, Texas
Another Texas lineman comes off the board here, although this time from the Longhorns. 6’5’’ Gaydosh is a superb run blocker, with the speed and ability to get out ahead of a runner and cause carnage in the backfield.
Pick No. 9 – New Orleans Saints
Lynn Jefferson, MLB, Texas A&M
The league continues its run on Texas here, with the Saints taking tackling machine Lynn Jerfferson from the Aggies. 23 year old Jefferson is an agile linebacker known for his ability to hunt down a runner with great lines.
Pick No. 10 – San Francisco 49ers
Bradley Dupree, LOLB, Alabama
We finally escape the Texas stranglehold as the 49ers select Bud Dupree out of Alabama. Dupree is a great cover OLB, displaying impressive speed and agility during the combine.
