YTGM - Roundup
Posted by _M@_ (Regulars) at May 1 2013, 01:32 PM. 15 comments
Think the underlying opinion going into the draft proper was that the talent level this year was well spread out and there wasn't much difference from the back end of the 1st to the third round - I think that this was borne out in YTGM this year where only six teams managed to accrue a positive average value for all their drafted players. Scores later on.
Individual player wise, only 3 players went in the same OOH slot as the real draft;
Sheldon Richardson in the 1st
Tank Carradine in the 2nd
Jamar Taylor in the second
The latter being the only YTGM player matched up to team and the correct spot. In comparison I think there was at least 4 or 5 matching that criteria last season!
Overall there were seven players that wound up on the same team;
Taylor, Jamar
Schwenke, Brian
Patterson, Cordarelle
Franklin, Jonathan
Jenkins, Brandon
Smith, Quanterus
Thomas, Phillip
All but Taylor had negative value grades with Thomas being taken by the real life Redskins some 68 picks after their TYGM counterpart.
We managed to draft 57 players at better value than the pros, the 3 aforementioned at the same spot but the majority, 73 players, we got worse value than reality.
The top 5 value picks were as follows;
The top 5 'reaches' were as follows (with UDFA getting a 255 pick value);
Some honorable mentions;
Det & Tolbi, Min & Oli702 and NE & Glynners as being the three GMs who managed to get negative grades on all their players. PMac & Den managed to narrowly avoid this shame with Ertz getting him +1 and PFG & Ten having Tank's 0 save the day.
Corpus & the Cowboys, got a positive grade on all the players he drafted, will it be enough to secure top spot?
And onto the top & bottom performers, in reverse order;
The top of the tree;
So thanks to everyone taking part and many congratulations to Cleaver & the Giants on the victory, helped in big part by EJ Manuel's value but also by Jerry Jones' 1st round pick!!

As Bhoy doesn't seem to be about and to keep it moving lets get it picked...
Previously selected...
Williams, SylvesterDT
Ryan, LoganCB
Needs (according to Yahoo)
MOST PRESSING NEEDS
Offense: Guard and tackle
Defense: Tackle, linebacker and nickel/slot cornerback
Write in suggestions below see if we can reach a consensus...
I'd suggest either David Quessenberry (OT/OG San Jose State) or Xavier Nixon (OT Florida)

Bear's pick

Picked so far; Manti T'eo & Barrett Jones
Team needs;
Offensive Tackle: Fixing the offensive line is priority No. 1 this offseason. J'Marcus Webb was beaten early, but improved as the season went along, so I don't know if the Bears want to keep him at left tackle or move him to the right side. Either way, they need help at tackle. Signed Jermon Bushrod
Two Linebackers: Brian Urlacher and Nick Roach are free agents, but both needed to be upgraded anyway. I know Urlacher was hurt last year, but he was awful. He'll be 35 in May. Signed D.J. Williams and James Anderson
Tight End: Jay Cutler needs someone to throw to besides Brandon Marshall. A dependable intermediate target would be a big boost. Signed Martellus Bennett
Wide Receiver: Alshon Jeffery is expected to develop into a capable No. 2 receiver across from Marshall, but the Bears should still add another receiver.
Write in any suggestions below, if we get a mini consensus that'll be the pick.
I'd suggest Aaron Dobson, WR, (WE ARE) Marshall

Jags pick

Already drafted:
Werner, Bjorn - DE
Banks, Jonathan - CB
Armstead, Terron - OT
Team Needs:
Quarterback: It was obvious last year that Blaine Gabbert was a lemon. Given his fear of getting hit, sub-par football IQ and poor attitude, he was destined to fail. It's obvious that Jacksonville needs to find a franchise quarterback. Tim Tebow has been linked to the team, and despite homoclitic ESPN groupthink, he would be a massive upgrade.
Defensive End: Jacksonville had the fewest sacks in the NFL this past season. Jeremy Mincey had a down year, while second-round rookie Andre Branch seems to be yet another Gene Smith bust. Jason Babin was added during the season and actually looked pretty decent in brief action, but the Jaguars can't bank on him. Dion Jordan will probably be heavily considered at No. 2 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Cornerback: There seems to be something wrong with every Jacksonville cornerback. Derek Cox is gone. Aaron Ross left as well. Rashean Mathis is old. William Middleton hit the market. Sixth-round rookie Mike Harris played decently until Tom Brady exposed him in Week 16. The new front office needs to find a new No. 1 cornerback. Signed Alan Ball
Strong Safety: The pedestrian Dawan Landry was released.
If you have any suggestions throw them in below
I'd probably draft Mike Glennon at the point
